He is one of the three geniuses from the Four Seas Academy which includes himself, Lan Xi and Wang Long. who are representing the academy for the Martial Marking Immortal Realm. There they meet Chu Feng for the first time, although he is disguised as Wuqing at the time.[2]
The next time Qin Yi appears in front of Chu Feng, not disguised, was before the opening of the Millennium Ancient City. He is infatuated with Su Mei and is infuriated to discover the outsider, Chu Feng, has a relationship with her. Qin yu attempts to attack Chu Feng, but is stopped by his Master[3], the Sentencing Elder of the Four Seas Academy. Then he schemes to have his master dispose of Chu Feng, since he is an outsider and in a forbidden zone in the academy. He is ultimately stopped by Instructor Taikou, who slaps Qin Yu to the point he passes out and almost dies. Taikou then slaps the Sentencing Elder because she tries to save her disciple.[4]
